If you live in Travis County and are uninsured, we can help you get access to local doctors, specialists, and pharmacies through the Medical Access Program (MAP) or MAP Basic by Central Health, or through one of our health care partners.

What is MAP and MAP Basic?

Get MAP

Do you live in Travis County  with a low income and no health insurance? Central Health’s Medical Access Program (MAP) may be able to help.

MAP covers:

  • Doctor visits
  • Dental care
  • Prescription medications
  • And more health services

If you qualify, you and your family members can get the care you need.

MAP Basic

Can’t enroll in the full Medical Access Program? You may still qualify for MAP Basic.

With MAP Basic, you can access:

  • A primary care doctor
  • A dentist
  • Prescription medicines

MAP Basic has fewer services than MAP, but still provides basic health care coverage.

MAP and MAP Basic are not federal programs
All uninsured Travis County residents are encouraged to apply, regardless of their U.S. residency status.

Enrolling in MAP or MAP Basic will not impact your path to a green card.

Are you eligible for MAP or MAP Basic?

MAP and MAP Basic eligibility is based on the income you received in the last 30 days. Uninsured Travis County residents with income at or below 200%  of the Federal Poverty Level qualify for MAP or MAP Basic if they meet all other eligibility criteria. See the table below.

How to apply for MAP

  1. Review and complete the Applicant Responsibility Form. Click here (English and Spanish) to download.
  2. Provide list of required documents.
  3. Complete application process online, over the phone, or through the mail.

List of required documents

You will need at least ONE of the following documents from each category:

  • Lease agreement
  • Current utility bill
  • Mail postmarked (last 30 days)

  • Driver’s license
  • Foreign ID
  • Passport

  • Birth certificate
  • Legal permanent Resident Card

  • Check stubs from the last 30 days

  • Self-employment income
